Where is the Outdoor Center located?.

Located between the river and the Strahan Coliseum, the Outdoor Center is a medium-sized building with a red metal roof and brown brick walls. It’s adjacent to the intersection of Aquarena Springs and Sessom.

Can anyone rent a tube? What about other equipment?

The inner tubes are open to the public but must present a $25 deposit. All other equipment is limited to Texas State students, faculty and alumni.

What if I lose a piece of equipment that is not a tube?

If equipment is lost or damaged, the renter must pay the retail price for the item. A hold will be placed on a student’s record if equipment is not replaced.

What’s the busiest time of the year for renting equipment?

April is the busiest month, but September is a close second. Business also picks up around the middle of August when students return for school. Boats are more popular during the summer but fall is more active for camping gear.

What kinds of events are held at Sewell Park?

The annual Riverfest is the largest and most popular event held by Sewell Park, but many other campus organizations utilize the park for its amenities. The Wild Rice Festival is also an event that takes place at Sewell Park, sponsored by H.E.A.T.

The most rented item, by a long shot, is the Kayak. 95% of sales go to renting Kayaks. The busiest season to kayak is March through September.

What's the most popular piece of equipment to rent?

Is the Outdoors Center associated with Lions Club?

The Outdoor Center is completely separate from the Lions Club even though they are located just across the river. They specify in tube rentals to the public while the Outdoor Center specifies in renting other outdoor equipment through the university.
